Laboratory Monitoring & Genetic Testing Services

Genetic disorders require highly specialized testing for diagnosis and treatment. Many metabolic conditions also require frequent monitoring to prevent a metabolic crisis. The CHC is equipped to provide these services to our patients, allowing for comprehensive care.

The Community Health Clinic collaborates with laboratories nationwide to ensure the most up-to-date genetic testing is available to our patients. We also negotiate with the laboratories to ensure patients can obtain required testing at affordable prices. For example, we have negotiated the self-pay price of a test called whole exome sequencing to less than half of what it costs through other genetics clinics.

We also take advantage of sponsored testing programs, which allow for free genetic testing if patients meet certain criteria. Examples include genetic testing for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and for cholestasis and liver disease.

There is also space at the CHC devoted to storing equipment used to collect DNA samples for genetic testing as well as equipment to collect and process samples for monitoring purposes (such as amino acid levels in patients with certain metabolic conditions).

This laboratory space also allows for prompt processing of samples and shipment to the appropriate facilities for analysis. This means that patients who come to the CHC can have an evaluation and the testing/monitoring they need—all in one place!
